Lift Off! 40 Days of Sacrifice - Day 38
Day 38: Admission
Exodus 22:21
You shall not wrong a stranger or oppress him, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt.
The number of refugees admitted into the U.S. each year is decided by the President. Before the beginning of each fiscal year, the President, in consultation with Congress, establishes an overall refugee admissions ceiling as well as regional allocations. The total number of refugees authorized for admission in 2013 was 70,000. The largest regional allocation was to the Near East/South Asia region, which accounted for 46 percent of the authorized admissions number to continue accommodating refugee arrivals from Iraq, Iran, and Bhutan. Pray for our country's leadership to continue to allow refugees of all ethnicities admission into our borders. Pray that our country (and other countries) would continue to find ways to admit refugees from places of most need. Pray that God would divinely guide countries to create programs, laws, and establishments to admit more refugees than ever before.
