WLS+AZ Missions (2016) - Day 10
Yá'át'ééh everyone!
The team and I have been serving for a while now, and I’ve honestly lost track of how many days have passed. This week we have been blessed to attend a 4th of July celebration with several Navajo families. Through the lens of WLS I have been able to learn and appreciate Navajo culture more. This morning I was able to witness the slaughtering of a lamb for food by our Navajo hosts. Along with being very interesting, it also made the image of Jesus Christ as the lamb of God more real to me. This trip has been very edifying and I feel like I understand the plight of the Navajo more completely.
Through the week of WLS and this week of Arizona, I have learned more about trusting in God. Before this trip I felt very unqualified and inadequate but God provided by opening up the hearts of my Navajo cabin mates and sustaining me through my tiredness this week. Truly, I have come to appreciate the meaning of this hymn all the more:
“Great is thy faithfulness
Great is thy faithfulness
Morning by morning new mercies I see
All I have needed thy hand hath provided
Great is thy faithfulness Lord unto me”
God has been faithful to me in providing work according to my ability. Even though I did not lead extraordinary cabin times at WLS, God provided by making even the closed off people share deeply. God also allowed me to get close to one Navajo named Troy and share in his spiritual walk. This week in Arizona God has also provided all that I have needed in terms of energy and wisdom to lead small groups in the Teens class. I sincerely believe that God has strengthened me beyond my abilities this trip, and I am grateful for this opportunity to serve.
Praise God as there have been less cars stuck this year and other interferences. Please pray for our team as many of us are being attacked by tiredness and sickness. There are only two days left for VBS, so pray that God will show his glory and power through them. God is good!
