Meet the Thailand Team (T-Minus 2 Days)!
Sawasdee kaa (hello)!
Our team is excited to be leaving for Thailand in TWO days! We will be teaching conversational English in a school setting, hosting VBS-style carnivals, and serving the churches in Northern Thailand. Our team is anxious and excited to see how God will use us as His servants for the glory of His Kingdom.
Please consider partnering with us in prayer as we will be updating this blog thread daily with prayer requests throughout our trip!
But first things first –let me introduce our team!
From left to right in the picture above is Caleb Choi, Doris Chow, Alisa Wong, Ashley Chuck, Rochelle Lai (me), and Thomas Yee. Unfortunately, we are missing one member, Kristy Leung, in the photo above, so here's another photo of our team during our Thai Tea fundraiser. However, in the picture below, we are also missing one member, Doris.
Which brings me to the first of our prayer requests...
Team Unity
Our team has still not been able to meet in person with every member present. Today, we will be having our last team meeting, where every member will finally be in the same room. Please pray for our team chemistry as we will be spending 16 days together in fairly close quarters. We ask that you would pray Ephesians 4:2-6 over our team, so that in any circumstance, our love and team unity will be a good witness to the people around us.
Hearts of the Thai People
Thailand is a Buddhist-dominated country (95%). Buddhism is inherent in the culture and nearly all Thais are born into it. Many have not heard of Jesus Christ. If they have, it's primarily through an academic setting, and Christianity is portrayed as a religion of the West. Pray that our team will have wisdom and cultural sensitivity as we share the good news. Please also pray for all the individuals we will meet (God already knows who they are!), that their hearts would be sensitive and open to the Holy Spirit.
Additionally, please pray that our team may be an encouragement to the 0.7% Christians that exist in Thailand. Two years ago on the same FCBC-LA Thailand Missions trip, I was able to experience first-hand the thriving Christian community in Northern Thailand. I am so encouraged by how the Holy Spirit continues to work in the lives of the Christians there, and how they are zealous to spread the gospel.
Protection
Please pray for our team's physical and spiritual protection. The weather is extremely humid, and with the time change and constant mosquito bites, we will be very vulnerable to sickness. Please pray that He would continue to strengthen our bodies day by day, and that we would rely on Him for physical strength, just as we would for our spiritual strength. Pray that our team would be reminded that the LORD will deliver us from the evil one and that there is victory in His name should there be any spiritual attack.
Those are the three main prayer requests on the team's behalf, and we hope that you will join us in prayer!
Krup Koon Kaa (thank you) for your support!
