Lift Off! Road to Renewal - Day 07

Day 07: STILLNESS

SCRIPTURE

Psalm 46
God is our refuge and strength,
   an ever-present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way
   and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,
though its waters roar and foam
   and the mountains quake with their surging.
There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,
   the holy place where the Most High dwells.
God is within her, she will not fall;
   God will help her at break of day.
Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall;
   he lifts his voice, the earth melts.
The LORD Almighty is with us;
   the God of Jacob is our fortress.
Come and see what the LORD has done,
   the desolations he has brought on the earth.
He makes wars cease
   to the ends of the earth.
He breaks the bow and shatters the spear;
   he burns the shields with fire.
He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;
   I will be exalted among the nations,
   I will be exalted in the earth.

PRAYER
God, give me the strength to calm the chaos in my mind. Help me to cease the checklists running through my head and the conversations that I continue to play over and over. You are a God of peace and the protector of my heart. I want to give you what is already yours. I want to surrender time to You and allow You the space that I have taken for granted. I long for you to truly work through me. I want to hear you in the stillness and only you.

NEXT STEPS
Take this day to intentionally set aside a time to be still and rest from your normal chaos. Separate yourself from distractions. Maybe go on a walk or hike, sit at a coffee shop or restaurant. Maybe you need to sit in a quiet room and close the blinds. If you have the capacity, day retreats are great. Everyone is different and has different needs. After you set aside this time, journal after and see what God was trying to tell or show you. Be intentional and hopefully you can add this to your process more often.
