College Report 4.01.2014

Congratulations to Darren Lo, New College Minister
Despite pleas for many to participate in the Special Members' Meeting, Darren's vote just passed: 161-159. The meeting went well into the night with much discussion and debate. Many felt that because he joined Facebook he "caved" into peer pressure and that he wasn't ready to minister to collegians who always cave into peer pressure. To his defense, his posts and tags would let everyone know he's working, each dish he was eating, that he was taking pictures while driving, Buzzfeeding and who he was dating. Darren was kept in the hallway during the 4 hour proceeding so his feelings would not be hurt by what was shared. Not sure when he'd be called back, he abstained from using the restroom during the waiting period. (A great bladder filters the strong pastors from the weak.) It wasn't until 7pm that a "call for the question" was initiated and a final vote was placed. Please welcome your new college minister! And you all need to come to members' meetings.

Flight is Landing. College Ministry is now Divine Design
In preparation for a new minister, "Flight" College Ministry will be departing and flying off into the sunset. All the inspired names you've come to love—and finally remember—"Flight", "Hub", "Annex", "Connections", "Passage", and so on, are being eliminated. Darren has decided to ground "Flight" because these terms associated with travel and airports made him airsick. Sticking with his graphic design background, he's created new titles: college ministry is now "Divine Design", and the motto is "If your name's not drawn in heaven, then you're going to Hell-vetica." Hub is replaced by "Fonts"—because we all come in different types and sizes. Passage is now "Serifs and Letters".

Thailand Mission is now Commission to Cancun
May 15 to July 1, 2014
Due to the low response and commitment to the Thailand mission trip, John Chow (your former college pastor) has decided that Cancun will now be the destination for the 6-week summer mission. Registration is still closed and no others are allowed to join. Please support the upcoming fundraiser to send John and Doris on mission.

Drive-Through ESPM
Wednesdays, 7:45-8:00pm
ESPM will only be 15 minutes long. We've recognized that the church doesn't have the time or energy to pray so we've created "Drive Through Prayer." We've put our engineering, problem-solving spiritual gift to work. You will drive to the Adobe Lot and line up; no need to get out. Drivers will roll down their windows and yell their prayer requests to Thelma Tong, who will be wearing a radio headset. The radio call will get sent to the Praise Center where the pastors will each take the request and process them to God. We've done some analysis and projections, and we think prayer meeting can be done in 10 minutes. We've added 5 minutes to our window in case someone needs to think about their prayer request and can't order promptly. Please pray with us as we consider Twitter Prayer Meeting #espm —140-character prayer request tweeted in! Done and done! You don't even need to show up!
