It's the Hub-bub! Hub Fellowship!

Wednesday, 7:30pm, Life Center 2nd Floor. Get in tune with God. [Editor's note: There are two symbolic scenes of God in the movie Finding Nemo, one of my favorites. (It's fitting I mention this since the movie's being re-released.) The first is found in the EAC–the East Australian Current. It is the superhighway that Marlin, Dory, Crush and Squirt are swept up in that brings them closer to Sydney Harbor, where Nemo is. God is that current. He is always working and moving, whether we know it or not. Prayer, I believe, is our act of jumping into God's current and joining him in what he is doing. In faithful prayer, we are aligned with his will and become subject to his direction.
The second scene is just plain beauty: Dory and Marlin are inside a whale, and the scene builds with anxiety as they both are being lifted by the whale's tongue toward its back. Dory and Marlin are clinging onto the tongue, suspended from falling:
Dory: "He (the whale) says it's time to let go. Everything's going to be alright!"
Marlin: "How do you know?! How do you know something bad isn't going to happen?!"
Dory: "(Pause) I don't."
Marlin is at a point of decision: does he let go of the whale's tongue and fall into the unknown or does he hold onto what he thinks is safe? He closes his eyes and let's go. They plunge into the dark water of the whale. The next scene has them being blown out of the whale's blowhole and landing into the water—into Sydney Harbor. They arrive exactly where they needed to go.
The whale as God is super-obvious. He takes us where we need to be. We are Marlin. The question is whether we trust God when he says everything's going to be alright. In prayer, again, we're caught up with God and where he's taking us. But prayer requires faith and we have to let go of our desires, even if they are safe choices. In prayer, we have to believe that God will deliver us to where we need to be.]
