Heart for Missions - Week 3
Dependence 

Take a moment and consider who or what you depend on. Is it your comforts? Your strengths? Perhaps your successes? It's easy to rest on our logical thinking and what makes sense. As we seek God's direction, let's depend on His will. It may seem different, against logic, maybe even a little crazy, but as we lean on God's strength, He can do amazing things in and through us. As we pray about missions, it will call us to depend on something greater than ourselves. It will push to be uncomfortable. And it may cause us to do something vastly different than we could imagine. Let's depend on God's leading--even if it may seem strange, it may be worth the opportunity to experience Him in a brand new way.

“I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.” John 15:5

Pray that we would rely on God's direction rather than conventional thinking. Pray for greater dependence on Him no matter where He may be calling us to go. Pray for awareness to listen to God's leading as we consider the possibility of missions this summer.

Heart for Missions - Week 2
Desire

What are your desires? Do they match with what God wants? Consider for a moment the things that you long for. Whether they are immediate or in the distant future, do you think they align with what God wants? As we pray in consideration of missions, let's pray that we consider what God wants for our summer. Lift up a prayer that you would think about God's kingdom and the need for His message to be spread.

Our Father in heaven, your name be honored as holy.
Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Matthew 6:9-10

Take a moment to confess that your desires have not yet aligned with God's. Then pray for a greater desire for His way, His will, and His work be done in and through you. Maybe it's not missions this summer--maybe it is--but use this opportunity to pray for greater focus on God's leading in your life.

Heart for Missions - Week 1
Delight

What excites you? What are the things that you desire? Take a moment and think about some of the passions in your own life. As we pray about summer missions--would you consider this a passion as well? If not, let's pray that God would develop an excitement to see His Gospel spread to the nations. If so, consider how God might use your passion to go on His behalf.

Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:4

For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Matthew 6:21

Take a moment to consider your own personal excitement for missions. Pray that God would develop a greater passion and delight in this area of ministry.

Pray and consider your area of missions participation this summer. Whether with FCBC, your fellowship group, or another area of missions, take a moment to earnestly seek God's guidance.
