2019 Thailand Missions - Willing To Do the Little Things
A few days ago, our team visited one of the most famous wats (temples) in Thailand: Doi Suthep. Located in a local mountain near Chiang Mai, it garners over 100,000 visitors a month. While there, many of us noticed such visitors from many parts of the world. We were even asked questions by a European couple who ventured to visit the popular temple! It was a reminder that this ancient site draws many to its tradition, beauty, and beliefs.
Even in this simple observation, we shared of the draw of such a site and the weight of the strong cultural ties that Buddhism has on this country—and even the world. We asked questions like, “What if our own church drew such visitors? What would our church people say?” We paused and wondered how we could be a better draw for people at our church—not in the physical sense, but more in the spiritual sense.
As we continue our efforts here in Thailand, we hope and pray that any seeds planted would be cultivated by God to bring great revival in this country. And even though it may seem like small efforts, we know God has a greater plan to use us in whatever capacity He sees fit. We may not get to see as many students as last year, but our seemingly small conversations to one or two students could be multiplied by a God who knows far more and can do greater things through us and beyond.
There are many of us that are willing to do great things for the Lord, but few of us are willing to do little things. — D.L. Moody
Wednesday's happenings:
- We visited Doi Suthep in the late morning and climbed a ton of stairs to get up there!
- We began painting one of the classrooms, turning it into a blank white canvas. In turn, we may have inhaled quite a bit of fumes from the paint! It was literally a hot, sweaty mess.
- We found out that Nikki Leon is the Master of Games—winning at many “new” games played together. We’ve caught on to her antics and no longer believe she has ‘never played this game before…’
- Pray that we continue to rely on God's strength to get through each and everyday.
- Pray for our upcoming Worship Night at The Centre, we've invited the students we've met and even a few of them are inviting friends to join us!
- Pray for those sharing at our Worship Night. Two of us will share our stories of God's faithfulness in our lives recently. May it be received with open hearts, minds, and understanding despite the language barrier.
