2019 Thailand Missions - Oh, How He Loves Us All

Praise the Lord! We have safely landed in Hong Kong and are preparing to fly to Chiang Mai in 8 hours! Despite the fact that our original flight was cancelled, God still wanted us to go to Thailand, and we were able to quickly find tickets the following day. This extra day was filled with good rest and more time to prep. Also, thank the Lord for everyone who was flexible and still went to Church to pray and send the team off.

Because this is my 2nd time going to Thailand, prepping the logistical and technical things for this mission has not been too difficult and has gone rather smoothly (other than the fact that our flight suddenly had an unexpected change). Our fundraiser was extremely successful thanks to our God and our generous Church family, our general plans in Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai are pretty much set, we have a place to gather and sleep, and so on.

What I found to be the most difficult and challenging was prepping my heart. The past year has definitely not been easy and I had trouble understanding the ideas of worthiness and love. Many of the worldly things I loved were stripped away from me and I was left feeling rather empty. My heart felt incomplete. As I prepped and went to planning meetings, I constantly questioned whether I could really minister to others and whether I was worthy of spreading God’s love when I personally felt unloved. However, when I led worship 2 weeks ago, I felt called to sing about God’s love - His overwhelming, never-ending love for us. Even though it was only soundcheck, I was truly able to praise God for how He loves us, and my heart felt full and turned “violently inside of my chest”. As I was singing, God reminded me of how he never gives up on me even when I give up on myself. I am now encouraged and excited to spread God’s love to His children in Thailand.

PRAYER REQUESTS

Physical health: Whitney and I suffer from motion sickness and we already felt nauseous on our way to the airport. Whitney ended up vomiting during our flight and is still feeling lightheaded and weak. Nikki has been getting skin irritation throughout our trip as well. Please pray for her health as well as the overall physical health of the team.

Communication: Pray that we won’t let the language difference and the culture barrier be an obstacle that hinders us from fully serving and doing God’s work.

Testimonies: We are finalizing our testimonies and our preparing to share them at our main events such as Worship Night and July 4th. Pray that we would be open to the guidance of the Holy Spirit and not be fearful of spreading the Gospel through our stories.
