Lift Off! 40 Days of Sacrifice - Day 25
Day 25: Bombings
Deuteronomy 26:12
When you have finished paying all the tithe of your increase in the third year, the year of tithing, then you shall give it to the Levite, to the stranger, to the orphan and to the widow, that they may eat in your towns and be satisfied.
Since 2012, the Syrian government has used aerial “barrel bombs” (aka “flying IEDs”)—often dropping them on civilian populations. According to the Weapons Law Encyclopedia, a barrel bomb refers to an improvised container (e.g. an oil drum or gas cylinder) dropped from an aircraft and filled with explosive, incendiary, or other substances and often includes additional materials to increase fragment projection. The UN claims the Assad regime has dropped barrel bombs containing chemical agents, likely chlorine, on “crowded areas, such as bakery lines, transportation hubs, apartment buildings, and markets.” The use of such weapons against civilian populations or containing chemical weapons clearly violates international laws. It's difficult to imagine such ugly attacks with this type of bombings. We may never truly grasp this kind of devastation on innocent people, but God knows and sees. Pray to a God who does not ignore this kind of violence. Unfortunately, it's the government who is trying to find control of the country at the expense its people. Pray for these leaders, both military and political. Pray that their hearts would change so they no longer take the lives of their own innocent citizens.
