Lift Off! Missions Minded - Day 10
Day 10 - Confidence in God's Word
Acts 13:4-5
So, being sent out by the Holy Spirit, they went down to Seleucia and from there they sailed to Cyprus. When they reached Salamis, they began to proclaim the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews; and they also had John as their helper.
Missionaries are sent not just to learn culture or do humanitarian relief but to confidently proclaim the Word of God.
-David Platt
As we think about missions, we often pray for safety as we travel, that we would know the culture we're about to venture into. But most importantly--and primarily--let us pray that God's Word would permeate us and be that message to the people being ministered to. It's so easy to think about the external work and ministry on the ground. But first and foremost, let us look to God's Word to be known within us before we venture out and consider where God may lead us.
Take a moment to pray as the Psalmist prayed in chapter 119:4-6:
[God,] You have ordained Your precepts,
That we should keep them diligently.
Oh that my ways may be established
To keep Your statutes!
Then I shall not be ashamed
When I look upon all Your commandments.
