Customs: Summer Missions (2016)

OWNERSHIP. 
"I’m thinking about summer missions..." is the buzz phrase as we approach spring and look toward summer.

This year, Flight Ministry will be taking a different approach to Customs (Missions). In the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20) Jesus grants us authority and calls us out to proclaim the gospel... but what are we doing about that?

This summer we invite you to CLAIM OWNERSHIP of your faith and proclamation of the gospel! This means a few things:

1. PRAY. 
Acts 1:8 says, “but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth." First, ask: pray for the Holy Spirit’s counsel and direction in your life. Second, seek: in what area does God want you to be His witness? How will you know if God is calling you to Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria, OR the ends of the earth? You won't unless you come before Him in prayer.

2. LEARN. 
Whether you are stepping into the field in India, South America or Chinatown we must learn about those we seek to reach. Learn about the cultural background, struggles/obstacles that exist before going out, and what it takes for the Great Commission to be done. How might God be calling you to this specific area? How can you see God using your gifts, talents, specific area of study for His greater purposes?

3. SEEK.
Flight ministry is here to support your journeys! Come talk to us if you already know God is calling you to go but don't know where // if you want to learn more about what it means to go on missions (biblical basis, financial expenses, etc.) // or just want to hear about other's experiences! Don't feel adequate enough to do God's work? Seek what God has to say about that (hint: read Isaiah 6, revisit your SS notes about Joseph, Moses, seek counsel with peers/adult leaders, etc.) Lastly, even if you think missions is not for you, but want to know more, come talk to us!

OWN UP to your faith. TAKE RESPONSIBILITY that comes with a beautiful relationship with Jesus. We are so excited to see where the Lord will take you all!
