Latest Church News & Updates

“Don’t be negligent now, for the Lord has chosen you to stand in his presence, to serve him, and to be his ministers and burners of incense.”  2 Chronicles 29:11

Hey everyone,
Hope you're trying to enjoy what remains of your "Spring Break" for those that were on it this week. Also for those that are about to be on break, praying that you're able to adjust to the new way of school, finishing up any projects, and coping with the new way of taking tests too! Please know that despite the isolation orders, church and ministry are not that far away from you. If you need anything, please don't hesitate to reach out to someone or our ministry: darrenlo[at]fcbc[dot]org.

We'll continue to be meeting over Zoom for Annex! Check FB for events as usual, we'll play a quick game, do some sharing, and hear a short devotional. Sorry no dinner :(

Some things to keep in mind this week:
WE ARE HERE FOR YOU!
  • Mercy Fund | FCBC has allocated special funds to assist those who are facing financial difficulties, including during this coronavirus pandemic. Please contact us or one of the pastors and they will direct you to the Mercy Ministry deacons.
  • Lay Counseling Available | If you are in need of someone to talk to, brothers and sisters are available to provide lay counseling support. Please email your contact info and a brief description of your concerns to care@fcbc.org and someone will respond to you as soon as possible. These conversations will be private and confidential.

A few quick links and updates:
  • UPDATES from FCBCLA: fcbc.la/Covid19
  • WORSHIP Content (posted weekly on Sundays morning): fcbc.la/Sunday
Sunday is the Lord’s Day and that is unchanged even though we are “safer at home”. We call you to set aside time to pray, sing, hear from God’s word, and to seek Him. Though we are apart, we can still worship God. Life is crazy right now, so let’s turn to Christ as our sure foundation!
  • PRAYER MEETING will be held over Zoom (Video Conference) on Wednesdays at 8pm:
Please go to fcbc.la/pray for details and instructions on all our gatherings.
  • NEW LIFE LENT DEVOTIONS Let’s continue to look to God in this time by reading, reflecting, and praying upon His Word. Weekly devotions are posted here.
  • GIVING online is highly encouraged and would greatly help our church as we continue to minister to people during the COVID-19 crisis. You may still send your offering check by mail but processing may be delayed. To give online: fcbc.la/give

COVID-19 (Coronavirus)

Greetings Flight!
As many of you may have already heard, FCBCLA has suspended all ministry-related activities (including Sunday worship services) at church until March 31, 2020, effective immediately (started March 13). This was not an easy decision that took much prayer, research, and consideration. There is an official statement (and future updates) posted here from the church if you're interested.

We also know that many of you have suspended in-person classes and have gone online at this time. Schools have asked that you remain online even after spring break in case students have traveled during your time off. Getting back to the 'norm' is quite far away at this moment. It's been a difficult time that has changed rather rapidly and we hope to encourage you through it all. So let's keep a few things in mind:

  • Please continue to pray. We have a God who listens and hears our cries. If you're feeling anxious, unsure, lost, know that God is by your side and has a listening ear.
  • Be careful and caring. We all know the health concerns, so please do your part to remain cautious of your environment and wash your hands. Practice social distancing when possible (6-feet). But also continue to smile and talk to people around you. Times of crisis brings people together--especially those in need.
  • Be considerate of others. Just because you're young and healthy, doesn't mean you can't contract and spread the virus. Consider others who may not have as strong an immune system or the elderly that you may come into contact with. Be mindful of others over your own well-being.
  • Connect as the church. Even though we're not meeting on Sundays for some time, we'll still continue to gather in small groups (the smaller the better). Look out for gatherings throughout the week for prayer, fellowship, and community. We'll do our best to be the church even though we're not meeting as regularly in our typical space. We encourage you to get together on your own as well--please don't isolate yourself (unless you're sick).
We'll get through this together as the body of Christ and share our love of Christ that He has first shared with us. Love and reach out to others because we have been loved by God first. If you need any prayer support, a listening ear, or have any questions, don't hesitate to call, text, message, or email Darren.

Here's one thing you can do right now: message, text, call, or ask someone how they're doing in the midst of all this. Then ask if you can pray for them. Go. Do it now!
