Thailand Missions (2018) "The Battle Begins"
To all who came by to support our team or talk to us at our fundraiser on Sunday, kup koon kaa (thank you)! Seeing the church come together to show support was an encouragement for me.
A bit about this team member...
A few of you may know me and why I am going on this missions trip, but for those who do not know me, I am Melody Y. (It is a bit confusing since there are two “Melody”s on the team this year.) I felt called to missions simply for the reason of God commissioning us to "go." I have been thinking about missions since high school but had not had the opportunity to go, until this summer. Recently, a series of events in my life prompted me to start thinking more on the question "what if God took me home soon?" As my schedule this summer was more flexible, I felt that now was the time to “go” rather than solely focusing on furthering my academic and professional careers.I am rather introverted, and the extensive socializing that comes with reaching out to people for raising prayer and financial support has reminded me of my limitations. As much as fundraising has been tiring, it has also been a humbling experience that reminds me that I am serving not just the people I meet in Thailand but also the people in my daily life. May God continue to grow in me a servant’s heart!
T-18 days
We are eighteen days away from our departure! As our departure nears, God is reminding me to rely on Him. I feel that Satan is beginning his battle in my thoughts - negative thoughts, social anxiety, fears of getting sick from food/water and sanitation, uncomfortableness of hot and humid weather and mosquitoes. Please keep us in your prayers as we prepare for the trip, and ask people you know to pray for us as well. We need strong prayer support from the Church. Here are some ways you can pray for our team:
- Team unity - team chemistry, good communication, humility, patience
- Strength - physical, mental, emotional, spiritual
- Working of the Holy Spirit in our hearts and in the hearts of the Thai people
Once again, thank you very much for coming alongside our team during this journey. God’s work is done through those going and those staying behind, so please know that your support is very important!

Special thanks to our extra helpers (like laying out tator tots side by side, one by one!) and those who came by even just for a little while :) |

So many came by our table for some pastries, Thai-inspired drinks, and team prayer cards in the courtyard! |
