Lift Off! 40 Days of Sacrifice - Day 16
Day 16: Church Provision
Galatians 6:10
Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.
What Paul writes in Galatians 6:10 is obviously not saying we shouldn’t care for all people. But we can’t deny the priority of provision here and elsewhere in Scripture for those who are of the household of faith.
Again, this care doesn’t totally exclude those who aren’t part of the church. We love all our neighbors, even our enemies, as we love ourselves.
It is altogether right, then, for the church to consider how to care specifically for our brothers and sisters in Christ in the middle of this refugee crisis. Not only is such care for refugees right; it’s required. Why? Because of the character of God.
- David Platt
Pray for the church at large--that we would be a representation of the love and hope of Christ to those who are greatly in need, especially the refugees. Pray that we would respond with the opportunities given to use to show support, solidarity, and provision as the body of Christ. Pray that FCBC would also consider how we might take part in this crisis around the world. Pray that God would show us as a church how we might inform our church, pray for the displaced people, and give sacrificially.
