Thailand Missions (2016) "Monkeys and Mosquitoes"
Hello everyone!
Today marks the last day of teaching morning classes. For the past four days, each team has been teaching 1-2 morning classes (50 minutes) and 1 night class (1 hour and 30 minutes). Teaching gets pretty tiring, especially when you have to wear flats that cut into the back of your feet, but it is rewarding to see our student's English actually improve!
For the past week at school, our team has been very intentional with every lunch, break and after school time. We rarely eat lunch together as a team because we always try to eat with the students. We praise God that we have had so many opportunities to share about why we came all the way from Amey-Li-kaa (America).
And as indicated by the title, mosquitoes played a big role in our day, as they do every day. I personally have been bit by mosquitoes many times in my life, but for some reason, when my foot got bitten twice this time, my entire foot got swollen. In short, my foot looked like it was fake –something you would find on a mannequin. In addition, there was pain from the pressure of the fluid building up. At the time I thought it might have been an infection, which the worst case scenario (like really worst case scenario) is amputation. But God is good, because Doris figured out that it was an allergic reaction. Today, the swelling has subsided but is not completely gone. It was a humbling reminder that even simple pleasures like walking can be taken away from a tiny insect. And it is by God's power alone, that I could continue standing while teaching without intense pain.
Instead of teaching class tomorrow morning, the school is having an activity day, where the upperclassmen prepare games, dances, and activities for the new freshmen (the Thai school year has just begun), and we have been invited to participate! Later tomorrow evening, both teaching teams will be teaching our last night class.
Tomorrow, Kristy and I also plan on sharing the Evangecube to students who already know Christ, so that the students may become equipped when they want to evangelize to their friends. Please pray that the Holy Spirit would provide us wisdom to answer their questions and that our Mandarin would be easy to understand.
Here's how you can pray for us:
-Pray for physical healing for our mosquito bites and feet (Caleb's ankle is injured)
-Pray for spiritual protection.
-Pray that we would have a renewed energy everyday!
Kup Koon kaa (thank you)!
-Rochelle
