WLS+AZ Missions 2016 - Day 0
Hola!
Greetings from FCBC lol. I'm writing this with T-4 hours away from heading to Missouri! OMG is this actually happening? I can't believe that we are leaving today. As a team, it sounds like a lot of us are really nervous about WLS. For those of you that didn't know, WLS stands for Warrior Leadership Summit. It is basically a Native American Christian conference where different tribes from around the country come to learn about Jesus. A group of collegians have been called to go minister and walk alongside some of the Navajo that will be attending this conference. Our goal during the first week of the trip is to find a Navajo teen that is willing to lead a small group with each of us during the week of VBS in Arizona with HSMT (High School Missionary Team). Our WLS team includes: Katrina, Daniel, Melissa, Ernest, Cyrus, and myself (Katlyn).
During the second week of our trip we will be working with the HSMT on the Navajo reservation. During our time there, we will be teaching a VBS class of teens, leading them in small groups, worshipping God with some new songs, and reflecting God's love to them.
Some prayer requests that the team include:
1. Boldness to be able to talk to the people that we encounter there, to really see them through God's eyes and love on them with God's love.
2. Team unity to rely on each other when our energy runs out and openness to come to each other when we need support and prayer.
3. Energy throughout the week. Since the trip is 2 weeks long, pray that when we are feeling tired that we would continue to lean on God's strength.
Keep up with us here as we'll post updates throughout our trip!
**Update 8 hrs later:
We've landed! After a 2-hour delay, we're in Missouri and ready for some sleep!
