Greetings! We are extremely excited for this trip and are anticipating God's work to be done through us in these 2 weeks. You'll find some information about our trip on this post and look for updates on this blog! Thanks for all the support and we can't wait to share with you soon.
Our Trip
Over the past 30 years, our church (FCBCLA), has been partnering with a small church in Hard Rock, Arizona, ministering to a nearby Navajo community. The team typically consists of high schoolers that host a Vacation Bible School at the church site for nearly 100 Navajo children, teenagers, and young adults. Over the past few years, some of these Navajo have been attending a new, national conference focused on Native American Christians for ages 15-35. This week-long conference is known as the Warrior Leadership Summit (WLS) and calls many Natives to Missouri for strengthening of faith--some even coming to faith for the first time.
This year, we have the unique opportunity to participate and do ministry in BOTH areas. For 2 weeks, 4 collegians and 2 adults will be on a trip that encompasses both areas of ministry--the WLS conference in Missouri, and VBS in Arizona. Our first week will partner with those attending WLS (20 teenagers/collegians/young adults) and then help our high school team with VBS--specifically helping serve in the teens’ class.
Our hope in combining these two ministries is mainly two-fold. Firstly, our team will help lead small groups and devotions during the conference for the attendees from Hard Rock. We hope this close ministry will help build deeper relationships with our older Navajo that we’ve been ministering to through previous VBS’s. Secondly, we would like to see how we could effectively train these older teens to begin ministering to their own people group at VBS during the second week. Our goal is to raise indigenous leaders for the local church on the reservation.

Prayer. We can't go without your prayer support. Here's how you can pray for us:
- Preparedness. Pray that we would take the time and energy to prepare ourselves for this trip. That we would not only practically plan, but spiritually ready our hearts for God's work.
- Newness. Pray that we go with the Holy Spirit's guidance. This trip is new in many ways such as attending WLS for the first time. We do not know exactly what to expect, so pray that we lean on God's guidance throughout this entire trip.
- Connection. Pray for our goal to bridge the relational gap with Navajo we are ministering to. Pray that these relationships would build through both weeks of ministry, but also that we can challenge our older Navajo to begin to think about serving and helping out more.
- Energy. Pray that we may be strengthened day by day through the 2 week trip. We hope to be sustained in God's grace both mentally and emotionally as we may be ministering mainly through small groups and one-on-one meet-ups. Pray that we lean on God's strength rather than our own especially as the second week is fairly demanding in ministry.
