Read Isaiah 6:1-7
Worship encompasses the idea that the all-creating God is after man's affection.
a. If God is love, it is in His nature to show us and point us toward beautiful things, as in Himself, the most beautiful thing.
b. Worship points us to the most beautiful/valuable thing: God
c. We ought to worship things of worth--the most being God Himself
Our natural response to God's glory should be to speak/sing it out (v.3)
a. If we truly recognize God's glory, we should truthfully speak of it
b. Yet God's full glory is difficult to behold (v.2, 4, 5)--it's not just beautiful, but also powerful
c. To fear Him is to wake up to the reality of God's glory
d. And even though it invokes fear, we ought to continue to seek Him
e. This type of fear equates to judgment by God (v.6)
f. But the Gospel message gives us the opportunity to behold God's glory, rendering it a thrilling experience
g. Isaiah's mission, although fearful and scary, was made thrilling through his message of the Gospel
Questions to think about:
1. Do you really want to see God's glory?
2. What are we worshipping? Are these things of full worth/glory?
3. Do you want to see Him? Have you resolved to follow Him?
