'Tis the Season
Well, not quite the season, but I hope as we step into fall, we consider the opportunities this time of year offers. The leaves are changing color, the temperature is dropping (why is it 90º as I write this!?), the days are shortening, and of course, the holidays are on our minds. I've always loved this time of year because it means I can count the days before some extended vacation! But also it's a good time for wonderful food, fellowship, and family.
I hope that in the midst of all the classes, studying, projects, and events this season; you take the time to pause. Don't forget to observe God's changing creation all around you. Remember to be thankful for all that our Heavenly Father has provided. And make an effort to celebrate Christ's coming with the people close to you. It's easy to get swept up in the busy-ness of the holidays, so I hope you are reminded at each special day this time of year to pause, observe, remember, and celebrate our Great Provider.
Psalm 65:5-13
By awesome deeds You answer us in righteousness, O God of our salvation,
You who are the trust of all the ends of the earth and of the farthest sea;
Who establishes the mountains by His strength,
Being girded with might;
Who stills the roaring of the seas,
The roaring of their waves,
And the tumult of the peoples.
They who dwell in the ends of the earth stand in awe of Your signs;
You make the dawn and the sunset shout for joy.
You visit the earth and cause it to overflow;
You greatly enrich it;
The stream of God is full of water;
You prepare their grain, for thus You prepare the earth.
You water its furrows abundantly,
You settle its ridges,
You soften it with showers,
You bless its growth.
You have crowned the year with Your bounty,
And Your paths drip with fatness.
The pastures of the wilderness drip,
And the hills gird themselves with rejoicing.
The meadows are clothed with flocks
And the valleys are covered with grain;
They shout for joy, yes, they sing.
You greatly enrich it;
The stream of God is full of water;
You prepare their grain, for thus You prepare the earth.
You water its furrows abundantly,
You settle its ridges,
You soften it with showers,
You bless its growth.
You have crowned the year with Your bounty,
And Your paths drip with fatness.
The pastures of the wilderness drip,
And the hills gird themselves with rejoicing.
The meadows are clothed with flocks
And the valleys are covered with grain;
They shout for joy, yes, they sing.
